Name: Dr. Robert Chase

Background: Chase was born in Melbourne on February 2nd, 1978 to Rowan and Joanna Chase. The first child for either parent, he was doted upon and lavished with attention by either branch of the family. Raised in a prominent, well-off family afforded Chase a life of privilage-- he went to the best schools, had the best things, and engagaed in the best activities. Since before he could remember he wanted to be a doctor, just like his idolized father, and worked hard to achieve this, acing his classes and going so far as to graduate from high school at the age of sixteen.

At age eleven, already aware of his mother's fondess for a few glasses of wine after dinner and the tension between his parents, Chase came home to find his father gone and his father's things packed up. It was a blow to him and he focused his blame on the only person left-- his mother. As she grew more and more distant, turning to alcohol to drown her problems, Chase turned to his school work, determined to succeed just like his father. Six months after attending Rowan's second wedding, Chase's younger brother was born-- a child he grew to despise and resent for merely existing. Two years after that, a sister was born.

Joanna's problems simply increased. Embarrassed, Chase did his best to hide her alcoholism from others and care for her. Unwilling and unable to stop drinking, Joanna began to weaken and slip, despite every effort of her son. Turning to father for help, lost and unsure of what to do on his own, he was stunned to be shown away. His mother's death simply fueled the growing resentment toward his father and Chase, then fifteen, began to slowly emotionally remove himself from his father.

Chase attended both undergraduate and med school in Melbourne, going on to complete his residency in short time. As his career began to grow and take off, his relationship with his family grew more and more strained. Hearing of a fellowship opportunity with the esteemed Dr. House, he took his chance and applied. His acceptence for the job was originally his escape, but turned out to be much more.

Working for Dr. House advanced his career and knowledge greatly, proving to be one of the best decisions of his life. While there, word of his father's death reached Chase, hitting him much harder than he would have expected. It was not until later that he learned he had been written from the will, his father's fortune going to his two younger siblings instead. His financial change is something Chase still struggles to fit into.

While working at Princton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, a sexual fling began with Dr Cameron. Over time, Chase began to develop feelings for her and felt it best to reveal them. She ended the fling and he has been tirelessly persuing her since.

At the time of this application, Chase no longer works for Dr. House, his mentor and possible father-figure replacement. Having been recently fired, he is at odds with where to go next.
Personality: Chase is stubborn, defensive, and at times unthinkingly insensitive. He holds strong opinions, though he will usually keep them to himself if it will benefit him. His bedside manner is adequate-- tender when needed, but still functional. Due to the family problems in his past, and his once-idolization of his father, Chase find himself with deep problems regarding 'father-figures'. He is constantly seeking approval and craves praise. Resentment toward his mother and other family members has led to a slight isolation of himself from those he cares for. Chase is intelligent, competent, hard-working, and dedicated to his job and those close to him.

Physical description: Chase is of medium height and build. He has light blond hair that he keeps in a shaggy cut, light eyes, and fair skin. He has no unusual marks or injuries.
